We use the original formula containing black walnut for both humans and animals on our farm, especially the goats. I typically use it as needed and during any times of high probability of a worm explosion, like particularly warm and wet weather! Old timers used to “worm” everyone Spring & Fall.
The nut free option is great for those who may be unable to consume nuts, as well as our equine friends! 
When using proactively, I like to begin giving it 3 days before the full moon, the day of, and 3 days after, for a total of 7 days. If using it for acute situations, don’t wait on the moon, just give it when needed and follow up the next full moon for as many moons as you think it is needed (it takes more if you’re trying to transition conventionally raised animals to a more holistic management style). The reason for giving according to the full moon isn’t hooey, it’s simply because parasites are most active during this time, but also the most vulnerable.
