We aren't your average farm. We take things slowly, building (or re-building) from the ground up, without massive equipment and an endless budget. We focus on nurturing all life, from the soil to the soul and everything in between.
Our Creation-Centric View
We are a holistic farm that focuses on Agro-Ecology, emphasizing Herbalism for Farm & Family and nurturing the balance between land, plants, animals and people. We care deeply about the welfare of our animals, many of which are rare breeds in need of conservation. It is our goal to raise our animals and tend our land without synthetic applications, including things like routine medications, vaccinations, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, etc., and to ensure breed survival through preservation of innate survivability traits rather than fostering weakness and perpetuating detrimental breed faults. We are called to be good stewards of all of Creation.
The Animals
Each breed we raise was chosen for different, yet very specific, reasons. Each animal has a role to play in our farm ecosystem, whether for milk, meat, wool, land management, or a combination. We raise all animals as naturally as we can possibly get. If they're born with horns, they keep them. If they're born with tails, they keep them. We feel that even if humans don't understand the necessity of such things, there was a good reason for them being born that way and it isn't up to us to think we know better than the Creator. It is up to us to develop the skill level to manage them well! If you're looking to purchase a Higher Ground animal, we'd love to chat!
Our Highlands are standard size (purebred) cattle originating from Scotland. They are known for their shorter stature, robust body type, long double coats and majestic horns. They are a slow growing beef breed, although we have milked them in the past. If you are interested in purchasing one of our Highlands, please reach out. We'd love to chat! Be prepared, though, as these cattle start around $3500 for bulls and $6000 for heifers. Prices vary depending on their attributes.
Our Jersey cattle provide us with rich, creamy, healthy and delicious milk. We run a very small herd and utilize artificial insimination (using no hormones or drugs) instead of keeping a Jersey bull. This allows us to keep the cows in milk and purebred babies on the ground. Calves are raised by their mothers, or at the least, on their mother's milk if there is a reason preventing dam rearing of the calf. We retain or sell heifer calves and the boys are mostly grown out for beef.
Our dairy sheep are comprised of several different "milky" breeds - East Friesian, Lacaune, Awassi, and some even have a touch of Finn or Icelandic. Our goal is to have milk if we need it, but primarily for the mothers to be able to raise their babies well and have ample milk to grow strong, hardy lambs. We had the privilege of adding VBN sheep to the farm in 2025 and have been in love with them since! Their personalities, their wool, just everything! We are currently growing our flock so no ewes will be available for a while, but please reach out if you're looking for a ram or wether. We are also interested in trading rams (same for same). We'd love to chat! For reference, our wethers start around $2500 and rams around $4500.
Our hardy, efficient, golden, long-haired, docile BG beauties are rare breed dairy goats from the British Isle of Guernsey, where they were near extinction not too long ago and are still considered a rare breed even in their home land. Our farm has been featured on BBC-Guernsey for our conservation efforts in the United States - a true honor! If you'd like to discuss the purchase of the rare beauties, we'd love to chat. No farm would be complete without birds! While we do not have specific breeding or conservation programs for these animals, we do enjoy a hatch every now and then.

Higher Ground Provisions is our local Private Membership Association founded on common faith and beliefs. Through this PMA we are able to share our abundance with others.
