We aren't your typical Southern farmers by any stretch of the imagination, but we would like to offer you the opportunity to be a part of a movement we think is very important for the future of our health, our children, our children's health, etc.
We believe clean eating/living is imperative, and trying to wrap our heads around how people came to be so out of touch with what they put in and on their bodies is mind boggling. In an age of food dyes, plastic pizza, killer sodas, and other non-food products, it is beyond difficult to ensure you are feeding your family healthily. That is one of the main reasons we took the plunge into farming. Now we want to open up our gates and re-teach what should've never been forgotten in the first place. Some people are into organic, gluten free, wild caught... food because its trendy. Good for them! Fake it 'til you make it, I say. Whatever the reasoning, I'm glad to see things moving in that direction, back to REAL food, real practices, and clean, responsible living.
The same line of thought lead us to homeschool our children, and teach them MORE than they would ever learn about life in a public school setting, given the current views and ways of the country. The way we see it, there is no other choice unless we completely stick our heads in the sand and pretend that what the youth are being taught, and are otherwise subject to in classes across the country, is not completely detrimental to all of human kind.
Does this ring true to you, too? Do you want to move in a similar direction, but you aren't quite sure how you'd fare? Contact us to set up a time to chat and discover the possibilities with the Farm Fit Program at Higher Ground! We have a limited number of apprenticeship opportunities, but we would love to add you to our wait list as we work out the kinks and get an apprentice rotation set up so that more families can enjoy and grow from this experience.
